If you remember...

That sucks. I really don't think they should be putting a hold on your payroll checks (after the first one clears). You can always cash it at the bank from which it is drawn.

They shouldn't be, they just keep making excuses. And yes, I am thinking of doing what you suggested, it might be a better idea. Then just deposit it from there, or hell, just use cash from now on. I don't make nearly enough money to be having my checks held for a week or more.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think it would really be the best thing to do. :)
I totally feel you on this. My bank finally crossed the line with me several months ago by doing the same thing with me. I started just cashing my paychecks at the bank that they are drawn on and doing everything in cash. It's kind of an extra bother, but you can always get a money order if you need to. Or...if you still want to use your bank, cash it at the bank that it's drawn on and deposit the cash.

Yeah, that's the best thing to do I think. I can't go through the bank my work uses since they distribute the checks through a seperate company, I don't know what bank they actually take the money from. But I am going to use a check cashing place, they only take out about 10 dollars per check so I'll have to accept that. I am thinking I should only deposit cash into my bank if I need to order something online or something, it's all too unpredictable for me. It's really lame getting paid and having no money, since they are holding it. Thanks for the help :)
so sad isn't it? nothing frustrates me more than a bank keeping MY money from me... thankfully these days my pay is direct deposited to my account, but once a month I bring in a reimbursement cheque from my employer for mileage and on a couple of occassions the bank wanted to hold the cheque (for like $100 or something silly) - I asked for the manager and asked him to explain to me why they kept playing games with me, sometimes they do it, sometimes they don't. I asked him to review my account and see the pattern of monthly cheques being cashed for me. Anywho, he apologised and they made a notation on my account indicating that any cheques from that employer would be released immediately. I don't know what the customer service is like at your bank, but I always suggest speaking to someone with authority when you're pissed. No sense talking to a teller who is really just a robot! good luck :)
